In a surprise move, Nas and his Mass Appeal label are set to release Harlem’s Finest: Return of the King, a project built from unreleased Big L recordings that bring one of Harlem’s greatest voices back to life.
We never thought we’d hear Big L’s voice again in 2025, but thanks to Nas and his Mass Appeal label, that’s about to change. Nas managed to get his hands on unreleased Big L material and is gearing up to drop a full project titled Harlem’s Finest: Return of the King.
The rollout kicks off with the first single, “U Ain’t Gotta Chance,” featuring Nas himself. The track instantly taps into that golden-era energy, pure nostalgia for anyone who remembers Big L’s punchline-heavy flow and the raw Harlem sound that made him a legend ahead of his time.
For those who might not know, Big L was one of the most gifted lyricists to ever come out of New York, long before Nas, Jay-Z, and DMX dominated the charts, he was next in line to take the crown. Harlem’s Finest: Return of the King drops October 31st.
RIP Big L — the voice of Harlem lives on.
