J. Cole Returns to Fayetteville Roots on PFG’s ‘Never Say Die’

It appeared J. Cole might be heading into retirement when he dropped The Fall-Off back in February. But it turns out he’s not quite done, Cole returns to his Fayetteville roots to link up with PFG (Prettyface Gangsta) and produce his entire new album, Never Say Die. PFG, born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is signed to The Sheltuh Records, the same label founded by Nervous Reck, one of Cole’s earliest mentors coming up in the Fayetteville scene. Cole blesses the project with full production and shows up on three features himself, teaming up with PFG on “Mighty Mouse,” “Whole House,” and “Twins Forever (Remix).” The project runs 10 tracks deep, with Cole as the only guest featured throughout, the rest filled with bouncy, boom-bap-heavy production and PFG bringing genuinely high-level bars. This is a must-listen for anyone looking for a solid hip-hop project to add to their weekend rotation. You can find the streaming links below.
